FoxService: Legacy Authentication

FoxService: Legacy Authentication

NiagaraAX versions 3.7u1, 3.6u4, 3.5u4, or newer, have an improved digest authentication policy. Due to these changes, newer stations are unable to authenticate with previous versions of NiagaraAX using the older digest MD5 algorithm.

Legacy Authentication has three settings:

  • Strict (prevent older stations from authenticating)
  • Always Relaxed (uses new digest for if possible, degrades to 'basic" for older clients)
  • Relaxed Until (like Always Relaxed, but changes to Strict at the set date)

It is recommended that Legacy Authentication is always set to Strict. However, the Relaxed settings may be used temporarily to allow older stations to communicate while upgrading.

To set the Legacy Authentication to Strict

  1. Navigate to the Station's Drivers > NiagaraNetwork > FoxService's property sheet.
  2. Set the "Legacy Authentication" property to "Strict"
